Police officers warmly addressed protesters demonstrating against the killing of George Floyd in Oakley and Brentwood, California, on Sunday.

During a rally in Oakley, Police Chief Eric Christensen knelt down to hug a protester.

In a nearby rally, Brentwood Police Chief Tom Hanson said, “I appreciate you guys, your right to come and peaceful protest.” He went on to say, “We appreciate it, and we hear you. We are going to make some changes.”

Violent protests have been taking place across the US after 46-year-old Afro-American George Floyd was killed at the hands of a police officer a week ago.
