Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov stated that the US has decided to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty since “the US needs such types of missiles,” speaking during an exclusive interview with RT in Washington DC on Saturday.

Antonov went on to say that Russia “will wait and see” when the US starts the production of “this missile,” adding “It’s very important to understand where they will deploy.”

“I consider that if [the] United States decides to deploy such missiles in Europe, it will be [a] crisis of security for European countries,” he concluded.

Antonov also mentioned that there is a “great opportunity” for Russia-US cooperation in Afghanistan. “We are looking very attentively at the situation in this country, because such countries like Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan are very close to that region,” he added.
