Thousands of Michael Jackson fans gathered outside the mausoleum where the King of Pop is buried to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death on Tuesday in Glendale.

Flowers, pictures of Jackson and mourning messages flooded the surroundings of the building, while hundreds queued to see the door leading to his grave.

A few minutes before 14:26 local time (21:26 GMT), the time when he passed away, mourners gathered in a circle in front of his mausoleum in silence and broke it after that minute with a loud “Thank you, Michael.” Many fans burst into tears and hugged each other after the vigil, while Jackson’s song “Heal the world” started playing.

Michael Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication at his home in the Holmby Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles.
