US President Donald Trump said he would make good on his campaign promise to build a southern border wall regardless of the outcome of the negotiations at a bipartisan conference on the matter. Trump was speaking at a ‘Make America Great Again’ rally in El Paso, Texas on Monday.
“They said that progress is being made with this committee. Just so you know, we’re building the wall anyway,” said Trump.
The US leader also commented US Senator Richard Burr’s statements in a CBS interview recently, where he said that no evidence has been found of collusion with Russia.
“Senator Richard Burr from the great state of North Carolina, he’s chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and they’ve been investigating this Russia hoax for two years – think of it – they’ve interviewed over 200 people, they’ve studied hundreds of thousands of documents and pages, and Richard just announced that they found no collusion between Donald Trump and Russia,” he said.
Trump also mocked potential 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke from the Democratic party, who was also having a rally in El Paso. He ridiculed O’Rourke’s rally attendance and how it will be reported in the media.
“Watch what the news does tomorrow though. They won’t mention the disparity. They won’t mention the disparity tomorrow. They’ll say: “Beto O’Rourke, that’s his last name, right? O’Rourke? Beto O’Rourke had a wonderful rally of about 15 people”,” said Trump.
