Violence mars England-Russia Euro 2016 opener

At least 20 football fans have been taken to hospital after clashes between English and Russian supporters following the teams’ opening Euro 2016 game in the French city of Marseille.

This is the third successive day of violence in the city, with the latest clashes taking place after the dramatic 1-1 draw on Saturday.

After the final whistle of the match at the Stade Velodrome, Russian supporters were seen storming a section of the ground housing England fans, causing them to flee.

An investigation into the incident has been ordered by Europe’s football governing body, UEFA.

Al Jazeera’s David Chater reports from Marseille.
