Meet super football fan Achim Klimmeck, who drapes his street in Essen with the flags of the countries playing in the World Cup, footage filmed on Tuesday shows.
“I do it for my neighbours and secondly for the German soccer and I do this for five weeks,” he said.
For the 2018 Championship, Klimmeck has hung up 280 flags, featuring every country in all eight groups, with a not-so-slight bias for the German team. In his opinion, Germany will reach the semi-finals facing strong teams such as Brazil, France or Spain.
Klimmeck began the yearly tradition of decorating his street in 2006, when Germany hosted the championship.
