Tens of thousands of fans gathered outside Casa Rosada, the office of the President of Argentina, where a wake service was held for football legend Diego Maradona on Thursday.
Desperate supporters who were tired of waiting to file past the icon’s coffin were seen climbing over the fences of the building. Overwhelmed with emotion, some fans were seen arguing with officers, trying to break through the police line.
The wake service was disrupted when several fans took over an inner courtyard.
The incidents inside and around the presidential palace forced authorities to move the coffin to another location temporarily.
Diego Armando Maradona, the Argentine football legend who led the nation to two world cups and scored the infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal passed away from a heart attack on Wednesday, two weeks after being discharged from a hospital for brain surgery.
