Black Pete controversy: Protests against disputed tradition cancelled
The controversial Dutch Christmas tradition of Black Pete has increasingly led to violent confrontations across the Netherlands.
It involves a white person dressing up as a Black helper for Santa Claus and is widely considered to be racist.
Protests against the tradition have been cancelled out of fear for people’s safety.
