Police detained several protesters trying to access the coastal area in Burgas on Saturday as clashes broke out close to the summer residence of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Party former chairman Ahmed Dogan.
According to the reports, tensions escalated after the protesters were refused entry to Rosenets Park, causing the director of the Burgas police, Radoslav Sotirov, to resign following a request by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The coastal territory is a public state property in Bulgaria and the access to it cannot be denied.
