Supporters of Egyptian football club Al-Ahly celebrated on the streets of Cairo on Friday night after their team beat Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca to reach the final of the CAF Champions League tournament.
“Al-Ahly played a good match, we are not afraid of any team, and we are ready for any team, victory is sweet,” said one supporter after the game.
Fans gathered to watch the game in outdoor cafes as it was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Al-Ahly will face the winner of the other semi-final between fellow Egyptian club Zamalek and Moroccan club Raja Casablanca with the final scheduled for November 6.
SOT, Hesham ELmasry, Al-Ahly supporter (Arabic): “Thank God for the win today, the victory was certain, Al-Ahly is an eagle flying anywhere, Al-Ahly club means Africa, which means that you are proud of being Egyptian because you are family. I want to say a few words to anyone in Africa so that everyone knows the status of Al-Ahly club: “Game Over for Africa.”
SOT, Mohamed Elzanate, football fan (Arabic): “Al-Ahly today was 100% “perfect”. I support Zamalek [another Egyptian club] but today I support Al-Ahly, and the performance was good. The new technical director was successful in his work, and God willing, the final will be entirely Egyptian if Zamalek win.”
SOT, Salah Mahmoud, Al-Ahly supporter (Arabic): “Al-Ahly played a good match, we are not afraid of any team, and we are ready for any team, victory is sweet.”
