US President Donald said he agreed with a statement by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that “Joe Biden is a low IQ individual” saying that “he probably is, based on his record, I think I agree with him on that,” during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo on Monday.
Trump also said that recent North Korean missile launches do not violate UN resolutions and said that Kim “is a very smart man, he gets it well.”
“I think that Kim Jong-un, or Chairman Kim, as some people say, is looking to create a nation that has great strength economically,” Trump said. “And I think that he is looking to develop that way, he knows that with nuclear that’s never going to happen.”
Asked if he was bothered by North Korea’s recent missile tests, he said, “No, I’m not, I am personally not,” adding, “my people think it could have been a violation, as you know. I view it differently, I view it as a man, perhaps he wants to get attention, and perhaps not, who knows? It doesn’t matter.”
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he is determined to face Kim directly without preconditions in order to solve the issue of abducted Japanese citizens.
“I will meet with the chairman and I would like to have a discussion frankly and in complete candour,” he said.
Trump likened negotiations with North Korea to the situation with Iran, saying he believed Iran “would like to make a deal,” and that it was a possibility.
