LIVE: Merkel addresses German Bundestag on 2021 federal budget

Ruptly is live from the Bundestag in Berlin on Wednesday, September 30, as German Chancellor Angela Merkel is taking part in a session with lawmakers to debate the country’s federal budget for 2021. The draft budget was approved by Merkel’s cabinet but still needs to be approved by German lawmakers.

The German Cabinet plans on spending 413,4 billion euros in 2021, 19 percent less than the 2020 budget which was increased in favour of a stimulus package aimed at mitigating the economic fallout from the coronavirus crisis.​
