Resident doctors (MIR) of the region of Madrid began an indefinite strike on Monday, as they marched through the streets of the Spanish capital to demand better working conditions.
The protesters walked across the centre of Madrid chanting slogans and holding banners that showed their discontent with the current situation, while several passers-by and neighbours clapped.
The health workers are seeking to ensure that the Ministry of Health sits down to negotiate a collective agreement that ends a working shifts pattern that they consider abusive, as well as the care of patients without the supervision of a doctor.
