An artist dumped a reported 29 tonnes of carrots at London’s Goldsmiths University on Wednesday, in a bid to highlight food wastage.

Students can be seen cautiously approaching the mountain of discarded food.

The carrots were allegedly rejected by supermarkets, and will apparently be donated to feed animals following the installation.

MFA student Rafael Perez Evans created the project, named ‘Grounding,’ in order to explore the difference between rural and city food sources, and to give a nod to the farmers who have used dumping as a form of protest.

The exhibition will run until October 6.
