The search for former “Glee” star Naya Rivera, who went missing during a boat trip with her son on Wednesday, continued on Friday as the Ventura County Sheriff’s department oversaw rescue helicopters and rescue boats operating on Lake Piru in California.

Footage shows the rescue team actively searching the lake where Rivera went on a boat trip with her four-year-old son. Her son Josey was later found in a boat alone. Josey told officers who found him that he watched his mother disappear beneath the water of Lake Piru.

The last known location of Rivera can be established from video footage. The footage, taken at the dock, shows their boat departing at 1.00 p.m local time (9.00 p.m GMT) on Wednesday.

“Well, each day we’re evaluating what areas have been searched and what areas still need to be searched. The level of personnel and equipment here may vary over the next two days. Today we have approimately 40 personnel on this. We’re not putting divers in the water at the same pace that we were on Wednesday evening or yesterday. We’re using the sonar to identify specific objects, it’s very effective, they get a real detailed image and then they can go down and focus on specific things,” explained Ventura County Sheriff Eric Buschow.

The sonar systems, which are carried along the water by the rescue boats, have been scanning Lake Piru for anything that might resemble a human body.

“Unfortunately, the targets that they’ve marked so far and gone down and investigated, have not been what we’re looking for. So, the search continues,” stated Ventura.

Rivera, 33, was the star of the musical comedy show ‘Glee’.
