US White House Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, replied to journalists’ questions about whether US President Donald Trump’s tweet made earlier in the day was in support of the Confederate flag, Washington DC, Monday.

“The president never said that. Again, you’re taking his tweet completely out of context,” she answered, as the tweet was made after the NASCAR – The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, had decided to ban the Confederate flag from all races and events, due to an incident involving league’s only full-time black driver, Bubba Wallace.

Trump’s Monday tweet said, “Has @BubbaWallace apologised to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX? That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!”

Last month NASCAR launched an investigation after a rope looking like a noose had been discovered in a garage stall assigned to Wallace. The FBI concluded that the noose had been in the garage since last year, meaning that the act was not a hate crime targeting Wallace.
